Set within 12 miles of the vibrant city of Kendal, the cottage enjoys a peaceful setting with wonderful views. This comfortable and thoughtfully modernised cottage is full of character and has a fantastic beamed sitting room, wood-burning stove and outstanding views from its three bedrooms over the surrounding countryside to the Lakeland Fells. Diverse wildlife can be spotted on the nearby canal, whilst swans and other wildfowl can be seen along the wharf. There is a pub with restaurant just a short walk from the property, making this a well positioned home from home.

All fuel & power inc. in rent. Logs provided. Bed linen inc. in rent. Travel cot & highchair available on request. Off road parking for 4 cars. Lockable back yard with bike storage. Enclosed canalside patio with garden furniture. Owner can provide information on fishing in the area by prior arrangement. Well-behaved dogs aged 2 yrs & over welcome. Sorry, no smoking. Shop, Post Office & pub 12 mins walk. |

And of course there are the lakes themselves: glorious Windermere, pretty Derwent Water and beautiful Ullswater are just some of the highlights of a holiday in this area.
For the historically minded, Cumbria offers a wealth of Celtic monuments, Roman remains, stately homes and ruined abbeys. Carlisle still has some of its ancient walls standing, as well as a Norman castle, and the western part of Hadrian’s Wall is nearby. Other places of interest include Penrith, with its castle and remarkably unchanged market square; Keswick, which was once the centre of pencil manufacturing; the busy market town of Kendal and Cockermouth, Wordsworth’s birthplace.
